Enlisting and Providing support
While creating my advocacy plan I began to wonder how my fellow colleague's have set up their smart goals, and short term and the long term goals and what were the challenges that they faced when setting these up in their plan. While brainstorming and creating my plan I referred to my county's pre-k coordinator and my county's NC Pre- K coordinator also to explain the information that I found on the NC Pre- k program which is very important to develop my plan. To create my plan I researched and use websites like www.ncchild.org, ncjustice.org, earlylearning.nc.gov , ncchildcare.dhhs.state.nc.us to base my plan on. In order to help me to deliver my advocacy plan successfully I would like input on how to explain what my long term, short term, and smart goals in less words to keep my audience's attention. I would also like input of some suggestions that I could use in my plan for why programs like NC Pre-k is important and why their is a need for more funds and to add extra classrooms so more children can be included.

My Personal advocacy journey
One of my favorite quotes that inspires me as a professional educator and as an advocate for the North Carolina Pre-kindergarten program is " in play [ the child] reveals his own original power." - Friedrich Frobel. I think that this quotes inspires me because working with children I have observed them learning new concepts in play and socialization skills that are needed throughout their life. I think that what has excited me the most about becoming an advocate is that I get to be the voice for the program, the children in the program, their families, the teachers and the staff that work tersely to organize and plan for this program so that children who's family can not afford private preschool can have a place for their children to learn, explore, and socialize with others and preparing for the primary academic career. One of the challenges that I think I may face during my advocacy is that making sure I have current up to date information on the program and how many students it has helped. I believe that by working with the counties ( Vance county) the county I live in pre kindergarten program coordinator I will be able to over come this challenge and other challenges that may occur during the time of researching and putting together my plan. I would like to give my fellow colleagues the advice of making sure that you plan ahead, have a notepad handy to take notes that you may need, set up interviews with the person who specializes in this area and to build up a network of resources that can be of assistance in your plan.
